Mill reuse plans on track

Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that Vermont-based Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc., (GMCR) a leader in specialty coffee and coffeemakers, will establish a production and distribution facility in Isle of Wight County. The company will invest $180 million over the initial five-years of the facility’s operations.

The county is moving forward on a proposal that designates up to 3,800 acres in southern Isle of Wight as enterprise zone areas and creates incentives to woo business prospects.
The Isle of Wight Board of Supervisors on Thursday unanimously approved an application to form a joint state enterprise zone with Franklin and Southampton County. That state designation allows the board to create local enterprise zones, said Lisa Perry, the county’s director of economic development.
